Mulder's largest to date begins to take shape
Mulder’s Zoeterwoude-Rijndijk shipyard welcomed the hull and superstructure of its latest project, at 34m its largest to date, to be joined together. Both components had been constructed off-site, and now that this landmark step in the build process has been completed delivery is on schedule for summer 2015.
The process involved the installation of the engines and generators before the aluminium superstructure and steel hull were conjoined. The vessel was then moved into dry dock, where the construction will now continue.
The vessel has been designed by Claydon Reeves, with naval architecture courtesy of Van Oosanen Naval Architects. She is being built to RINA LY3 classification.
She will sleep eight guests in two VIP suites and two double cabins. The full beam VIP is positioned on the lower deck, whilst the other VIP is positioned forward on the main deck, offering the owner two distinct choices of cabin.
This project will now consume the yard, but as SuperyachtNews.com was told by Nick Mulder when visiting in June, the yard will not over-stretch its capacity. At the time Mulder explained that, even with the capabilities to go up to 50m, the likelihood is that the size of future projects will only increase incrementally.
