'Keyla' transformed after Hot Lab-RMK refit
RMK Marine (RMK) has announced delivery of 45.3m Keyla (formerly: Chevy Toy; Stanley Z) after a major refit that lasted more than a year and a half.
Hot Lab in Milan worked with RMK in Turkey to refit the Trinity yacht after considerable input from the owner and his family, enthusiasts of photography, art and fossil collecting.
Revamping the interior for the new owner's lifestyle and needs meant 'substantial stylistic changes' had to be introduced as well as several technical updates.
A 2 metre hull extension added space to create a larger swimming platform without adversely affecting Keyla's original lines. The electrical systems were comprehensively updated with the installation of new generators compatible with both the standard European 220 V and the American 110 V. Other systems, including hydraulics were completely replaced, leaving only the air conditioning system untouched.
A priority in the refit was to improve the crew and service area. The laundry area was therefore resized to fit additional cabins in the crew quarters enabling Keyla to count on additional number of crew. The Captain’s cabin brings the total number of berths for the crew to nine.
Hot Lab and RMK then re-designed the galley, main saloon, upper lounge, sundeck and the bridge. The galley was not altered in terms of layout, but important upgradings were made to equipment. The helm station was deeply modified, but no changes were made to the original systems or electronics.
The main deck – although unmodified in the general plans – has undergone minor changes in its layout: the dining area has been moved to the stern for an al-fresco dining experience while the lounge area has been carried towards the bow, closer to the 60 inch TV screen.
On request of the owner, the upper deck was modified to incorporate an inside area, exclusively for children.
Outside, a new dining area has been created with a huge round 14-person table, plus two coffee tables that can be transformed into dining tables for 4 people per table.
This means that 20 people or more can be seated for dinner. A 50 inch TV screen has been added to provide another entertainment option.
RMK and Hot Lab modified the layout of the sun deck, creating new areas and offering a ‘visually exciting journey’ on deck. The bar faces the bow, while the stern area can be enjoyed in different ways: lounging and sunbathing area by day and dining area by night. This deck now has all-teak flooring.
The sunbathing area has been enlarged so that after the refit has a total area of 18 m2. All the exteriors on all the decks have been refitted with contemporary furniture with rounded corners and varnished in ice white, with inserts in unfinished “open pore” teak that has been specially treated to make it highly resistant to liquids.
Custom built tables have been added on all decks. Special attention was paid to the lighting system, which now features indirect LED lights throughout the yacht.
Finally, Keyla's hull color has been changed to an elegant Awlgrip Kingston Grey.
The refit is a thorough transformation in look both inside and out – a thoroughly exciting result from Hot Lab and RMK Marine.
