Solent Refit reports increase in projects

Solent refit, UK, has reported an increase in refit work including projects of progressively bigger scale.
This summer the UK south coast based centre has refitted Sudami, a 34m Inace motoryacht and will also soon accommodate winter refits for three more superyachts including 38m yacht Moonbeam.
“Owners are realising that the UK has the capacity and skills required to compete in the international superyacht industry, providing quality workmanship alongside excellent value for money in comparison with traditional Mediterranean refit centres," said Allan Foot, managing director at Solent Refit.
"Our ability to meet time schedules, work to competitive budgets, plus our outstanding facilities are now attracting more projects at our Hythe based facility,” he added.

Its biggest project to date is yet to come, with the arrival of 57m Lady K II from Marseilles. Recovered after a number of years of neglect in France she was re-commissioned for ocean passage by Solent Refit. She now starts her eighteen-month refit to meet contemporary superyacht standards in both comfort and technology.
Solent Refit’s profile has received a boost at an opportune time. The yard is completing the next stages of its infrastructure upgrade programme. Stage one of the maintenance dredging plan is complete, offering (MLWS) mean low water spring tide levels of five metres in the main pontoon areas. Stage two is underway with investment in a new maintenance dredging barge and work tug. Additionally, comprehensive engineering and carpentry shops have been installed. Investments in the facilities will be needed for the current demand and particularly if more projects of this scope and scale come to the Solent.
