Taiwanese shipyard Horizon Yachts has announced the successful completion of its EP148 Horizon Polaris’ sea trials. It is the fifth sea trial undertaken by the 45m explorer vessel since her launch in summer 2012. This latest adventure involved a two-day trip to the island of Pong Hu off Taiwan to evaluate her durability and operational performance.
Throughout the cruise a division of quality control engineers undertook a series of tests on all of the vessel’s mechanical systems. These included stability tests, vibration tests zero stabiliser tests, turning radius tests and steering tests.
The EP148 Horizon Polaris is capable of over 4,500 nautical miles at 9 knots, with a cruising speed of 11 knots and a top speed of 16 knots.
According to marketing manager, Vincee Wu, the final sea trial was the culmination of a series of tests that scrutinised every aspect of her performance. It seems she will be at the peak of her performance upon delivery to her owner.
