Week in Superyacht Brokerage: sales include 36.5m ‘Vitamin’ and 42m ‘Istros’

In the second week of August there were positive levels of activity within the brokerage sector: this is a good sign ahead of the approaching boat show season. 15 new central agencies were listed alongside 14 price reductions and a not disappointing five sales.


Superyacht Sales


Five superyachts were sold this week, making a combined total of 173.78m. Leading the way by length overall (LOA) was the 42.06m Istros, build in 1954, by De Vries Lentsch. Listed by Edmiston the yacht underwent refit work in 2012, and had an asking price of €5.95 million.

Other sales announced in the course of the week were two US built yachts and two Italian builds. The 34.14m Symphony II, built by Westport in 2000, was sold by RJC Yacht Sales, and had an asking price of $4.395 million.

The 36.58m Vitamin, built by Palmer Johnson in 2008, was sold by Moran Yacht & Ship, and had an asking price of $14.9 million.

The 32m La Rubia, built by Azimut in 2010, was sold in by Dmitry Lukin of Merle Wood & Associates: she  had an asking price of $9 million.

Lastly, 29m Novelo, built by CBI Navi in 2000, was sold in July by Tom Barnes of Blue Water Yachting, and had an asking price of €1,975,000 at the time of her sale.


New Central Agencies



This week saw the announcement of 15 new central agencies, slightly ahead of the previous week’s total.

Newly listed by Camper & Nicholsons were three new CA’s. Charles Ehrardt is marketing both 36.47m Lady Aida, built by Bulgari in 1990, which has an asking price of €3.75 million and 29.57m Starship, which was built by Ferretti in 2007 and is listed at €4.5million. 34.75m Cortina, built by Newcastle only recently in 2010, is the listing of Bob O’Brien with an asking price of $14million.

Northrop & Johnson also announced three new CAs. Bruce Leffers and John Weller are marketing 41.75m Bread, built by Kanter in 2007, which is asking $24.9 million. Gregg Morton has listed 32.6m El Terrible, built by Westport in 1990, which is asking $1.9million. Wes Sanford’s listing is 34.38m 99 Problems, built by Crescent in 2002, and asking $4.995 million.

Delta Marine announced the listing of their own build, the 50m Triton, which they delivered in 2004. The yacht has an asking price of $25.9 million and is lying on the West Coast of the USA.

The 24.38m Morfise, built by Mangusta in 1999, with a refit in 2008, has been listed by Jonathan Barbe and Harry Soames at Edmiston at a price of €1.1 million.

Michael Selter at Fraser Yachts added 25m Elegante, built in 1987 by McQueen: the yacht is asking $495,000. Also at Fraser, Jose Arana Jr is marketing the 30.48m Mi Cielo, built by Azimut in 2006, which is freshly back on the market after a refit: her asking price is $2.25 million. 

The newly built 62.5m Maidelle, which launched from Icon Yachts earlier this year, was listed by Merle Wood & Associates together with Burgess in July, at an asking price of €55 million.

49.95m Cuor di Leone, built by Benetti in 1999, with a refit in 2010/2011, is back on the market with Ocean Independence after a very successful charter season. Being marketed by Peter Thompson and Michael White she has an asking price of $16.99 million.

The first F-Class, 35.2m Firefly, which was launched by Claasen Jachtbouw in 2011, is a new open listing.

Tucker Fallon at Bradford Marine Yacht Sales has announced the joint CA of 30.58m Moon River, built by Palmer Johnson in 1997. The yacht is also being marketed by Worth Avenue Yachts and has an asking price of $2.4 million.

Meanwhile, Michael Mahan at Worth Avenue Yachts has listed the 26.9m Essence of Cayman, built by Vicem Yachts in 2006, at an asking price of $3.85 million.

Price Reductions

This week saw 14 price reductions, one more than the previous week.  The biggest reduction was to Baltic Yachts’ 43m 2003 S/Y Canica, listed with Fraser Yachts, which saw €1.8 million knocked from her asking price to give her a new price of €9.95million.

38.7m Gladius, built by Cantieri di Pisa in 2007 and listed jointly by Oceanstyle, Burgess and Opal Marine, was close behind with a €1.75 million price reduction, giving her a new price of €7 million.

Including Canica, Fraser Yachts made five price reduction announcements over the course of the week. Oceanfast’s 53m 2004 Sea Bowld was reduced by €1.05 million to $6.45million. Broward’s 31.39m Trilogy, built in 1988 and with a recent refit in 2010, was reduced by $190,000 to $1.395 million. Christensen’s 32.61m 1997 Kingfish was reduced by $805,000 to $5.995 million. Finally the Vitters-built 31m 1995 Ninemia, also listed with Cape 4 Yachting, was reduced by €550,000 to €1.95 million.

Northrop & Johnson announced four price reductions. 39.9m Seagull of Cayman, built by Feadship de Vries in 1980, was reduced by $1.05million down to a new price of $6.45million. Jade Yachts 27.43m 2009 2B was reduced by €270,000 to €4.98 million. Heesen Yachts’ 32.2m 1988 The Lady J was reduced by $400,000 to $949,000. The Abeking and Rasmussen built 42.4m Sotaj, which underwent refit work in 2009, was reduced by $1.85 million to a new price of  $6.9 million.

Two reductions came from International Yacht Collection.  42m Penny Mae, built by Richmond Yachts in 2004 with a 2012 refit, underwent another price cut and was reduced by $500,000 to $10.9million. 45.7m Carpe Diem, built by Trinity Yachts in 2002, was reduced by $1.45 million to $16.5 million.

Listed at Reed Deal Yachts 44.8m Aero Toy Store, built by Sterling in 1986 and refitted most recently in 2010, has undergone a price reduction of $1.305 million which takes her price to $4.495 million.

And finally, the 25.9m Speedy, built by Burger Boat Company in 1999 and listed with 26 North Yacht Sales has undergone a $605,000 reduction bringing her asking price to $2.895 million.
