Turkish shipyard Sunrise Yachts has informed SuperyachtNews.com that its Antalya-based facility is making good progress with the construction of the first of its two 63m superyachts currently under construction.
Known as Project 601, the 63.1m Espen Øino designed motoryacht began construction in 2011, following the sale by Simon Goldsworthy of Camper & Nicholsons International to a European client.
Jean-Claude Carme, vice president of sales and marketing, told SuperyachtNews.com: “This first 63m project represented a big leap forward from our first 45m Africa, both in terms of size and complexity. The quality achieved so far was crucial in demonstrating our capability, and resulted in the signing of a second contract for a similar size yacht last month."

Carme continued: “We consider these contracts as confirmation of a distinct trend in the market and of the Sunrise Yachts positioning: to meet the demand of a experienced yachtsmen who expect world-class design, high quality standards and sensible pricing - not just in the 30-50m segment, where the trend had been present for a while, but also in the larger yachts category, above 60m in length.”
Project 601 is just one of many superyachts currently under construction at the Turkish Shipyard. Also being built is a 32m explorer motoryacht (delivery in 2013), a 45m motoryacht sistership to Africa that is currently for sale (delivery in 2013), and an additional 63m motoryacht (delivery in 2014). Project 601 is scheduled for delivery in 2014.
Carme also informed SuperyachtNews.com that a “spectacular project” from Sunrise Yachts is to be announced later today.
