Superyacht Launches in April 2012

April was a fairly busy month for fleet activity, with a number of launches being made in timely readiness for the summer cruising season. These included 78.5m M/Y Hampshire II from Feadship and 37.33m S/Y Pumula from Royal Huisman.
Launch News
Adastra – On 10 April in Zhuhai, McConaghy Boats launched the radical 42.5m trimaran Adastra, a project that concept to completion took more than five years in the making. Captain Tork Buckley was at the launch of this unique project. Read more here.

Arianna - US yard, Delta Marine launched custom motoryacht, Arianna. Designed and engineered in-house by the Delta Design Group, Arianna is an all-composite 50m full-displacement motor yacht. She will be delivered to her owners in June. With a beam of nearly 10m, and over 2,286 square metres of living area Arianna has a notably large interior volume in proportion to her length. Delta says she is built to ‘travel and explore’ and is equipped for transoceanic cruising. Read more here.

Enterprise - The Perini Navi Group launched a 50m ketch, Enterprise (C.2173), the second vessel in their 50m aluminium hulled series. Enterprise is scheduled for delivery in May and will be the 52nd vessel in the Perini Navi sailing yacht fleet. Read more here.

Hampshire II - On 14 April, Dutch yard Feadship launched 78.5m Hampshire II (Hull 806) for a repeat owner with a great love of action and sports. From the foredeck ball court to the 25-metre high crow’s mast, this latest scion of the Feadship fleet is a yacht full of adventure. Read more here.

La Pellegrina - French yard Chantier Naval Couach have formally launched their biggest superyacht to date, the 50m La Pellegrina, the first Couach 5000 Fly. Entirely built in Glass Kevlar with Carbon reinforcement by infusion process, this 495gt vessel only weighs 290T and is able to cruise in amazing comfort at a maximum speed of 28kts in heavy sea conditions. The exterior lines are designed by Couach and the interior is by Jean Pierre Fantini. She features three decks, with six cabins for guests. Read more here.

Ouranos - The new flagship for the Admiral Tecnomar Group, the 45m Ouranos was launched on 5th April. Part of the Nadara series, Ouranos has a 'Blu Carintia' colour hull. A full beam forward area guarantees huge internal spaces and extra-large portholes allow guests a breathtaking view of surroundings and profusion of natural light inside. Read more here.
Maidelle - Dutch yard Icon Yachts have launched their third superyacht, the 62.5m Maidelle (formerly known as Project Midlandia) from their Harlingen facility. Maidelle is the third 62.5m yacht built by the yard and follows Icon, which launched in 2009, and Baton Rouge, which launched in 2010. Like Icon and Baton Rouge, Maidelle has been designed by Redman Whiteley Dixon. In a first time collaboration with the yard, her interior is the work of Cristiano Gatto Design. Read more here.

Phatsara - Silkline International's 37m superyacht Phatsara was launched in March 2012, and the power catamaran has now successfully completed her sea trials. Phatsara’s central agent, Simon Turner of Northrop & Johnson said, “We are delighted to report successful sea trials. The yacht cruised easily at 22 knots at 1800 RPM.” Read more here.

Pumula - Dutch yard Royal Huisman has launched the 37.33m sailing yacht Pumula. With the build project managed by Jens Cornelsen, Pumula, previously under the project name Bugamena, is a classic cutter cruising ketch with a fully ballasted and retractable bulb keel. Her naval architecture is by Dykstra Naval Architects and Rhoades Young has designed her interior. Read more here.

Souraya - Sanlorenzo has launched the 38m Souraya at the Viareggio yard in Italy, the fifth Sanlorenzo SD122, a flagship of the GRP navettas with a semi-displacement hull. Souraya is able to accommodate up to 10 people and 7 crew members. Read more here.
Zenith - The 38m catamaran Zenith, designed by Incat Crowther, has been successfully launched in Henderson, Western Australia. Having begun construction at Sabre Catamarans, she underwent finishing work at the Austal Service Yard facility before succesfully launching on April 15th. Read more here.

In other fleet news, 55m Step One, built by Amels, has successfully completed sea trials [click here to read]. Horizon Yachts’ new flagship, Polaris (EP148) has also completed her sea trials [click here to read].
Sunseeker Yachts announced that work on their largest build to date, the 47m Sunseeker 155, is progressing well [click here to read]. Following the delivery of 36m Glorious at the end of 2011, newcomer EsenYacht has commenced construction on its second project, the 47m sloop, E471 [click here to read].
And finally, in good news for the order book, New Zealand yard Fitzroy Yachts announced a new order for a 37.5m fast cruising sloop, Hull FY17, designed by Dubois Naval Architects [click here to read].
