Damen launches new 70m Support Yacht named 'Game Changer'…
Dutch shipbuilder Damen has announced that their fourth 70m superyacht support vessel has hit the water. Known as Game Changer, the new launch will be ready this summer, following a period of sea trials and final outfitting.
Targeted at superyacht owners who wish to explore further afield and get off the beaten track, Damen say that the yacht support solution will ‘significantly lower the total cost of ownership’.
“Our clients want to go to exiting new destinations, which have a less established superyacht infrastructure, with a yacht that offers more fun with larger tenders, larger helicopters and submersibles,” comments Mark Vermeulen.
“They also want to take more staff, guides pilots and security personnel with them,” continues Vermeulen. “Game Changer is the leap forward in capability that they need, but at a significantly reduced cost than a larger yacht, they get all the benefits of flexible operations and privacy – that’s why we call it the Smart Stretch.”
With a fully certified helideck and hangar, Game Changer enables large helicopters to operate long-range flights and land in a broader weather window. The fully equipped hangar also protects the aircraft from the elements in bad weather and when underway.
Game Changer features 250 square metres of open deck space for tenders, toys and storage, as well as a further 110 square metres below deck. With the capacity for 22 crewmembers and additional staff, the support vessel has offices, facilities and space for a vast amount of extra provisions, including fuel (marine, aviation and petrol).
