Be Inspired by the Global Superyacht Forum
Following a series of phone calls and conference skypes, it is clear that all of our speakers are ready to deliver next week. From the opening keynote to the closing session, this year's Global Superyacht Forum is set to leave the audience buzzing. An intimate owner's session on day one will welcome the brilliant business entrepreneur and unique mind behind Spyker Cars, Victor Muller. Now Chairman of the newly launched Feadship Heritage Fleet and owner of the classic Feadship The Highlander, Muller will be joined by Henk de Vries of Feadship as they engage in this relaxed session to close day one. Seeking to transform the classic yachting world to one closer resembling that of classic cars, Muller believes that there are endless possibilities to restoring the current fleet and creating an exclusive group for like minded individuals. "This is an opportunity for people to buy into a lifestyle that money simply cannot buy". That exclusivity and pride of ownership is exactly what the market needs.
A similar armchair discussion will follow on day three during session 10, when owner and founder of Steiner Film, Seigfried Steiner will discuss his interests and investments in his floating lifestyle. After purchasing Royal Huisman built Lethantia, Steiner was looking for a quieter way to live on board. The result was the creation of Microturbine Marine Energy with Capstone Turbine Corp to provide the on board silent power solution Steiner was looking for. An avid sailor, Steiner is doing exactly what the industry needs more of – owners who not only enjoy the unique madness of this industry, but innovating and investing to help the market evolve.
The closing keynote of this year's Forum (following the incredible Phillipe Starck of 2012), is set to be the highlight of the event with TED speaker and world renowned designer, Chris Bangle discussing his theories on design and postulating on why the world of superyacht design should think differently. This session will inspire and take a lead from the various conversations over the previous three days. Looking to inspire the next generation of build and design, Bangle plans to share different phenomenon he has come across over the years, delivering his personal comments on the design world and inspire owners and the industry to think differently about their time on board.
