Italian shipyard CRN has unveiled a new superyacht explorer line designed by Francesco Paszkowski Design. Named AlfaRosso, the new line of explorer yachts includes a 45m mode – which sits just under the 500gt threshold at 499gt, – 50m and 55m and has been designed to accommodate the exploration of the globe’s most remote cruising destinations.

The new line certainly encapsulates that classic explorer aesthetic, with hard lines and plenty of exterior space for the stowage of tenders and toys, with a dedicated area in the yacht’s bow area. These more robust lines are no stranger to CRN following on from the delivery of 55m Atlante in 2015, which also had this tough and more explorer-esc aesthetic, designed by Nuvolari Lenard.

Francesco Paszkowski Design also designed 61m M/Y Saramour, built by CRN in 2014, and the shipyard was enthusiastic about continuing this successful relationship. “We are excited to continue our collaboration with a dynamic industry leader like Francesco Paszkowski Design,” says Stefano De Vivo, CCO of CRN.

“In 1983, we created the first explorer pleasure boat, the iconic F100 designed by Gerhard Gilgenast, which went on to achieve cult status,” De Vivo adds. “Solidity on the water and a sense of being at one with the surrounding space were the principles underpinning the AlfaRosso design, in perfect harmony with the crisp styling by Francesco Paszkowski.”

CRN have specified that the design has been cantered around the merging of surrounding environment. “Power on the water and a sensation of merging with the surrounding space are the keys to this design,” says Francesco Paszkowski. “AlfaRosso’s sharply defined architectural geometries embrace large indoor guest areas with generous windows that give a strong sense of continuity between inside and outside.

“Remarkable open-air spaces, conceived as grand terraces gazing on to the sea linked by open-step stairs, lend the entire design a sense of gossamer lightness, where the use of teak provides the link between tradition and innovation,” Paszkowski continues. “Working with a historic yard like CRN has always been a great source of pride for our studio. Being able to create a new project backed by their proven expertise and solid know-how once again has been an inspiring experience”

Currently, CRN has three superyachts under construction with a cumulative LOA of 203m. This year, the shipyard also saw the delivery of 50m Latona, which officially made her debut at the Monaco Yacht Show.
