When it comes to the optimisation of space, a concept that is so important for superyacht designers, inspiration can be found in the latest project by IB Studio’s Beatrice Bonzanigo.

Casa Ojalá is a transportable home in cylindrical form, and contains all of life’s essentials within 27sqm. Having made its debut at Milan Design Week, Casa Ojalá now begins its journey to Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, for this year’s edition of The Superyacht Design Forum.

Using sailboat mechanics, Casa Ojalá is a flexible living space developed from a manual mechanical system of ropes, pulleys and cranks – making the user experience interactive and arguably enjoyable, and trading technology with simplicity. At The Superyacht Design Forum, Bonzanigo will also look at the ways in which designers can go beyond the structure and finishes of a product/superyacht, and consider how guests can use and experience their living space.

The home has been constructed with two priorities: flexibility and sustainability - two crucial topics for the world of superyacht design. At The Superyacht Design Forum, Bonzanigo will present Casa Ojalá, sharing ‘An External Perspective’ to over 200 delegates from superyacht owners to naval architects, as well as artisans, craftsmen and numerous leaders from the luxury sector.

From 25th – 26th June, many of The Superyacht Design Forum’s workshops will put a spotlight on sustainability, and Casa Ojalá will provide an insight into alternative sustainable design processes. IB Studio provides customers with the foundation components that make up the integral structure, while an instructional construction manual accompanies the product, providing guidance on how to source and utilise sustainable materials to produce the final space.

Remaining tickets to The Superyacht Design Forum are available now. Be part of the discussion and secure your place here.
