Winch Design to take to the stage at GSF

The new trio of forces behind Winch Design will take part in an armchair discussion at the Global Superyacht Forum next week.…

Founder and creative director Andrew Winch, CEO Aino-Leena Grapin and non-executive chairman Clive Beharrell of Winch Design will take part in an armchair discussion at this year’s Global Superyacht Forum. As Andrew Winch comments, "I am very pleased to be taking part in GSF in our 30th year, we have grown our business during the same time as The Superyacht Group has grown theirs. Martin [Redmayne] and I are both looking to the future."

The presentation, entitled ‘A Creative Collaboration’, will explore Winch Design’s past projects, drawing on Winch’s years of experience within the industry and gaining insight into the mind behind some of the world’s most recognisable superyachts including Madame Gu, Slipstream, Phoenix and Ace. The presentation will be an opportunity to hear about the evolution of the brand, as well a commentary on the wider superyacht design world.

A goliath in superyachts, aviation and architecture, Andrew Winch and his eponymous studio Winch Design celebrated their 30-year anniversary in 2016, with the new appointment of Grapin in September. The panel presentation will look at the new influence of Grapin – who has previously worked at Paddle 8 and Christie’s - and Beharrell on the studio.

With two new voices from outside of the industry, what direction will the new executive team and what do they expect from the future? Offering a fresh perspective on the market, the session will also consider what the superyacht industry can learn from parallel luxury brands, drawing on Grapin and Beharrell’s previous positions within the art, retail and restaurant worlds.

Winch Design has also spearheaded the recent London to Monaco bike ride, with donations raised for Blue Marine Foundation, a charity close to Winch's heart, "I am passionate about protecting our oceans as they are the lifeline of what our clients enjoy about yachts," he comments, highlighting a key discussion point at this year's event. Winch continued, "With the added support from The Superyacht Group, who are contributing to our London to Monaco bike, we will hit our targets of raising £250k for the foundation."

Don’t miss the Winch Design session on Monday 14 November at the Global Superyacht Forum. See the full programme and register here.
