The Superyacht Design Forum: not just another event

Here's what to look forward to at this year's edition of The Superyacht Design Forum…

Based on the countless shows and events that the superyacht industry inundates us with, I often wonder, why conversations seem to repeat themselves year on year. We discuss what the problems are, how we can alter the market for the better or how we could inspire next-gen owners to build ground-breaking new superyachts. Yet, once the dust has settled, it can sometimes feel as if these conversations never even happened, and the industry falls back into the same routine.

This surely can’t be the right approach? So, rather than sitting idly by, we’re putting our money where our mouth is, and calling for ‘Action not words’ at this year’s edition of The Superyacht Design Forum, in an attempt to set out plans for the future that we can actually put in motion.

When the design industry gathers at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour on 26th and 27th June 2018, we will tackle the subjects that are most pressing, and decide how it is that we are going get the superyacht industry up to the next level and secure its future – for some, we may have to drag you there kicking and screaming, but times are changing and we all need strap ourselves in for the ride.

The programme has been designed to stimulate interesting, inspiring and sometimes controversial discussions, in smaller and more direct environments. These discussions will take place in the famous domes of the Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, amongst the rich diversity of products that the showrooms have to offer.

We are delving into the world of intellectual property rights to discover how to fight the growing problem of plagiarism in the industry presenting the technologies of tomorrow, from the vanguard of other industries. Hear it from the horse’s mouth - what works and what doesn’t on board, when captains and senior crew share the woes of superyacht design from a practical perspective. And we will examine the materials and technologies that will enhance efficiency and sustainability in the future.

But it’s not only discussion that we’re bringing to the event; interactivity is key, and our aim is for all those in attendance to be involved in some fun and inspiring sessions. The Superyacht Design Forum is not about being talked at or listening to the same old story, which to be honest, we’ve all experienced before. It’s time to shake up the conversation and take control of what it is we need to alter in the way that we all do business.

We will be unveiling elements of the programme in the coming days and weeks, but feel free to get in touch if you have any questions about what to expect, or how you can get involved. Click here to register!
