The Superyacht Design Forum: calling all showrooms!

DCCH showrooms gathered for an informal, introductory presentation from The Superyacht Group…

“Raise your hand if you have ever worked in the superyacht sector?” asks Martin Redmayne, to an audience of showrooms at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour.

On 6th February, showrooms situated at the Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour gathered for an informal, introductory presentation from The Superyacht Group on how to get involved with The Superyacht Design Forum this year, taking place on 25 & 26 June. As only half the room raised their hand to having worked in the superyacht sector, attendees were intrigued to find out more about such an exciting and different event, taking place on their doorstep.

“The Superyacht Design Forum is about focussed and intimate discussions that will take place in your showroom. It won’t be about sitting in a big room, just listening to a speaker,” explains Redmayne. This event is not like any others; it is a unique opportunity to develop creative ideas, explore smarter concepts and share new concepts through topical conversations with experts from within and outside of the industry.

The Superyacht Design Forum is looking for at least 18 showrooms from Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, to participate in this year’s event. Participating showrooms will host a series of intimate workshop sessions held in various formats, as well as interactive network-focussed lunch sessions, throughout the two-day event.

The 2019 event’s theme is ‘An External Perspective’. Luminaries from outside the world of superyacht design will be invited to offer their thoughts on our fascinating industry. Using lessons learned from a myriad of industries, a number of visionaries will impart their wisdom and offer a new perspective on the world of superyacht design. Discussions will be rich, diverse and compelling.

The superyacht market has, at times, been accused of conservatism and an insular approach to progress. By opening up The Superyacht Design Forum to external perspectives, it creates an unrivalled opportunity for more than 200 delegates to shake free the shackles of conservatism and engage in some lateral thinking though a mixture of brainstorms, think tanks, workshops and social interaction.

This unique interactive gathering at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour is not about discussing what we already know, but exploring what we don’t and seeing how it can apply to new projects and ultimately to inspire new clients. What people think of superyachts and understanding their ‘external perspectives’ will drive an interesting and relevant debate. The Superyacht Design Forum will inspire any member of the Superyacht sector to think differently and challenge their own perspectives.
