An interactive feature at each year of SuperyachtDESIGN Week, held from 28 - 30 June, showcases display the latest in design products for the superyacht and luxury industries. Here we outline nine of the showcases taking part this year.
In addition to designer Ian Briggs presenting a keynote session discussing the superyacht supercar BAC Mono, SuperyachtDESIGN Week (SYDW) will also stage a model of the BAC Mono Marine onsite throughout the event. Get up close and personal with this ultimate superyacht toy.
Those who attended the SYDW party last year experienced the crystal clear sound technology of California Audio Technology (CAT). Returning in 2016 as an event showcase, these state of the art speakers will be filling the domes with music throughout the three days.
An incredible feat of biomechanics will be available to try in June. Over 10 years of research inspired David Hugh’s Elysium Chair that enables the user to experience near weightlessness. As founder David Wickett notes, "a showcase provides the perfect platform for introductions and demonstrations. We are very excited to be attending for the first time this year."
Floriture will be displaying their bespoke faux-floral bouquets within the Design Centre domes this year. "One of the most exciting sectors for us is the superyacht Industry. Our clients only want the best and it allows us to push the boundaries of design and create unique sculptures that enhance their living spaces,” remarks Alex Whitfield, managing director of the brand.
Gold partner Krion will also take part as a showcase this June. The team will be displaying their next generation materials at the event. The brand is well established in prime residences and luxury hotels around the world and will highlight how their product is perfect for the marine event.
Another showcase returning in 2016, Lumishore’s involvement in the fourth edition of the event highlights the high calibre of attendees each year, as CEO Eifrion Evans remarks, "SuperyachtDESIGN Week is a truly unique event and presents the opportunity for Lumishore not only to share its underwater lighting system concepts and prototype designs with industry influencers and decision makers, but also to listen to where industry wants to head into the future.”
With an impressive 325-year history, Metrica Interior’s showcase will display how the brand has continued to push the boundaries of craftsmanship onboard and ashore. “SYDW is the perfect stage for our products” notes sales & marketing manager Anja Maetzing.
Solomon&Wu will join SuperyachtDESIGN Week for the first time this year. Jake Solomon, director, sees their showcase as an opportunity to engage with those at the heart of this design industry: “Our work is about the materials and the possibilities of those materials in the designer’s hands. We chose SYDW because yacht design is at the forefront of the luxury market for material innovation and design.”
Another new showcase for attendees to discover at SuperyachtDESIGN Week is Eoin Turner. Displaying the one of a kind crystal sculptures and colourful glass panels, Turner highlighted how the location of the event is central to its success: "It gives me the invaluable opportunity to see and be seen at a prime design location in the heart of London, one of the primary international design locations."
