Hodgdon launches two 10.5m tenders

Hodgdon Custom Tenders announces the launch of two 10.5m…

American tender manufacturer Hodgdon Custom Tenders, a division of the ship builder Hodgdon, has announced that two new tenders have hit the water at the facilities in East Boothbay, Maine. Both tenders, referred to as the ‘limousine’ and the ‘open tender’ measure 10.5m, are quite different from one another in their design, which has been penned by Michael Peters Yacht design of Sarasota, Florida.

Built from the shipyard’s Venetian series of tenders, which is one of three tender ranges at Hodgdon, the two new tenders have been commissioned by a Dutch shipyard and will be delivered later this year.

Starting with the ‘limousine’ tender, which behind the helm is almost completely enclosed apart from the aft area, this model can accommodate up to 12 guests according to the shipyard. Additionally, the limousine tender features a high definition entertainment system, refrigerator/bar and a fully leather interior. In order create an un-cramped interior, the limousine tender has been fitted with a hydraulic system that can raise and lower the entire hard top, which according to the shipyard, “allows full-height headroom for ease of boarding and 360 degrees of visibility.”

“The custom details and exceptional craftsmanship on these tenders demonstrate our commitment to the highest quality," said director of sales and marketing Audrey Hodgdon. “The performance characteristics of the hull design are equally impressive and we are pleased to be delivering this beautiful pair of tenders."

For the design of the open tender, many of the amenities found aboard are similar, such as the capacity of 12 guests, the forward helm station and aft area. The open tender also has additional storage for water toys and beach amenities of its own.

On both tenders, the exterior stainless-steel hardware is the same, as is the general aesthetics, such as the tenders’ profile and of course the navy-blue colour scheme. Described by the shipyard as “tenders of unmatched quality,” there has been special care to ensure both of the boats can provide a stable and secure platform, even in rough conditions.

To emphasise the importance of tender stability and its ability to ensure a dry journey from superyacht to shore, a regular charter client recently told Superyacht News that, “my decisions on charter vessels are heavily dependent on the tender – if it can’t keep the guests dry, we can’t charter the superyacht.”

Upon delivery of these two tenders to the Dutch shipyard, the Hodgdon commissioning team will meet the tenders for re-commissioning and to provide crew training, a service the shipyard offers with all their tenders.
