UK, Southampton. Former senior designer at Dixon YD (DYD) Guy Newton has announced the launch of his studio Guy Newton Design. With 25 years’ of design experience, 16 years of which were spent at DYD, Newton is excited to explore new avenues.

“The launch of Guy Newton Design is a very exciting opportunity,” says the designer. “I am looking forward to the challenge of having the freedom to create pure designs to clients’ briefs — from the smallest product to a superyacht.”

With a broad understanding and ability in product design, superyacht styling and production engineering, Guy’s strengths are in his ability to sketch a design and develop it quickly into a detailed SolidWorks model. This allows for the creation of visualisations that aid in an efficient manufacture process and in the management of a project from concept to launch.

During his time at DYD, Newton created the interior of the 30m That’s Y, and designed a wide range of sailing and motoryachts including Moody 45’DS, Royal Denship Open 82’ and the soon to be launched 45m sailing yacht Heureka.

Newton reveals that his aim is to deliver a fresh, flexible and fun approach to design, working with clients to develop briefs that will stretch ideas to the limits. The hope is to create a finished product that both the designer and client can be truly proud of.
