French designer joins Superyacht UK

Acclaimed designer Philippe Briand has joined Superyacht UK as a member to access what he identifies as the world's leading superyacht design hub.…

Respected superyacht designer Philippe Briand has become a member of Superyacht UK (SYUK), capitalising on the innovation found in Britain.

As well as winning numerous awards, Briand has rooted his business and home in the UK, relocating his HQ to London to be “at the centre of the yachting world”.

As a French naval architect and yacht designer, he first found acclaim designing sail boats, from the America’s Cup racing yachts to Jeanneau cruisers. He then turned his talents to creating innovative motoryachts, including this year’s award-winning Grace E. Today he says he believes there are tangible benefits of being a recognised member of SYUK in his drive to design the foremost yachts in efficiency and elegance.

A group association of the British Marine Federation (BMF), SYUK represents the interests of Britain’s superyacht industry, championing UK innovation, excellence and heritage. It already boasts a membership of over 250 of the leading marine companies, from pioneering engineers to award-winning manufacturers.

Briand joins 11 other naval architects and yacht designers, including Design Unlimited, Claydon Reeves, BMT Nigel Gee and Dixon YD, as a SYUK member to drive cutting-edge yacht design in Britain.

Tom Chant of Superyacht UK commented: “Superyacht UK is delighted to be gaining another master in yacht design. By working alongside leaders in the industry we can refine and showcase our expert knowledge and advice.

“As a member we will be working with Philippe to utilise our technical expertise and together develop events and activities championing innovation in design. In particular we look forward to engaging with Philippe on another excellent Superyacht UK Design competition.”

Briand added: “I am very happy to be a member of Superyacht UK, because the association has the most accumulated experience in the field and the members have the biggest potential to be the ones that create the best superyachts in the years to come. Let's hope one day we can bundle this experience and create another stunning, but this time, truly British yacht.”
