UK, London. With only a couple of days remaining till the start of Focus/13 at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, final preparations are being carried out for the four-day event. From Sunday 22nd to Wednesday 25th September, Focus/13 promises to inspire, inform and deliver some of the best design from around the world.
“This year more showrooms than ever are throwing open their doors to host engaging events,” says PR manager at DCCH, Becky Metcalfe. “Add to this ‘Conversations in Design’, breakfast briefings and curated tours, it’s going to be a memorable event.”
Focus/13, part of the annual London Design Festival, is one of the key destinations for interior design and offers international buyers and designers a central hub for the latest fabrics, furniture, wall coverings, lighting, accessories, kitchens, bathroom, outdoor living, tiles and carpets.
In addition to its 99 showrooms and over 500 international brands — showcasing the latest collections and hosting bespoke events — DCCH has created a compact programme entitled Conversations in Design, providing engaging presentations by leading industry players. Each day is set to offer talks by some of the biggest names within the world of interior and furniture design including Tom Dixon, Mary Fox Linton, Holly Hunt and Alidad. The talks are intended to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas, knowledge and to encourage the discussion of design related topics. Access All Areas will run alongside with events taking place at participating showrooms.
Among the new features for Focus this year is its pop-up Tatler restaurant, which has been specially commissioned and created for the event in the north dome, with a menu offered by Absolute Taste. It will provide the venue for a presentation by international florist Kally Ellis, founder of McQueens on Tuesday 24th September. While industry insider and stylist Emilio Pimentel-Reid will provide a curated tour as he reveals his secret sources later the same day.
“Focus/13 is the first port of call for designers, architects, style-seekers and decision-makers who need to stay in touch with what is happening in the design arena,” concludes Metcalfe.
