The Riviera Yacht Support Golf Bonanza 2018

The ninth edition of the event took place at the Grande Bastide Golf Course last week…

Taking place on Friday 5 October, the ninth edition of the Riviera Yacht Support Golf Bonanza hosted 120 participants at the Grande Bastide Golf Course in the Cote d'Azur. The day kicked off with a full English breakfrast, supplied by silver sponsor So-sij, and a briefing about the day’s proceedings, with a shotgun start for 18-holes of golf shortly after 8.30am. After a sunny morning on the fairways and greens, attendees were greeted with chilled Champagne and wines at the 18th hole, provided by Château d'Esclans and Riviera Wine.

"The Riviera Yacht Support Golf Bonanza is a fantastic annual golf day for the yachting industry and a nice chance to relax and enjoy some networking after the busy yacht shows," reflects Ulf Sydbeck, managing director of Riviera Yacht Support. "Next year, we celebrate the 10th-year anniversary so we'll be back bigger and better!"

The success of the annual event would not be possible without the support of its sponsors: Championship Sponsor Monaco Marine, who has supported the event since inception, brought yachting expertise and fun to the day. Platinum Sponsors AGL Marine brought a huge contingent to the event and Northrop and Johnson joined the event as hole-in-one sponsor this year.

The remaining Silver Sponsors for this year's event included Prestige Driver (private transfers), Riviera Crew, Lamico / Simple2Ship, Colgans Brewery and Riviera Cbay (all manning refreshment stands and bars around the golf course) and Liquid Yacht Wear, who sponsored the polo shirts printed with all sponsor logos that were handed out at morning registration with a goody bag.

The Superyacht Group joined this year as main media partner, as well as sponsor the ‘Beat the Pro’ challenge at the fifth hole, and Riviera Radio joined as radio partner, with additional media coverage from Onboard Online. The event’s bronze sponsors included Zephyr Yachting, Freedom Maritime, Hem / Cathelco and Sturge.

Prize giving at the end of the day was highly anticipated, with a selection of mini BOSE speakers, courtesy of Mark Rudd Marine, and wine awarded to the ‘Best Team’, The Beer & Bacon Cricket Club. The ‘Best Gents’ prize went to Ben Lewis, who picked up a Fitbit and Champagne for his efforts, and ‘Best Ladies’ was claimed by Corinne Bazin Conzales, who won a luxury stay at the 5-star Mas Candille. ‘Best Dressed Team’ was awarded to the crew from M/Y Kingdom.

Further details of the prize-giving can be found on the Riviera Yacht Support website here and more images of the day can be found on the Facebook page here.
