SuperyachtNews.com speaks to Francois van Well, vice president of business development at Rybovich, the US-based refit specialist, about an ongoing period of infrastructure investment at the yard in order to respond to burgeoning demand.

“Rybovich is continuing to expand its facilities in West Palm Beach to accommodate the increased size of the superyacht fleet, as well as the increased size of the superyachts themselves,” starts van Well. “This holds both for the Rybovich Marina as well as for the Service Facility.”

Van Well explains that Rybovich is currently in the process of dredging the east facing outside dock in its marina, which will increase the marina’s deep draft dock space by 140m. Following this expansion further dredging will take place at the north yard service facility, once the project has been finalised.

“The land space we have there is three times the size of what we now use for the out-of-water works, so this will enable us to tailor the Service Facility to market demands,” says van Well.

There are also permits and plans in place to add a new basin capable of accommodating a further six 100m superyachts, “as soon as the demand is there.”

van Well is reluctant to pinpoint an exact date at which we can expect the additional basin. However, “we have currently got around three owners that are seriously interested in making the Rybovich marina the base for their large yacht.”
