ENGLAND, London. This week will see the release of the latest edition of SuperyachtDesign, Q15. This issue is a bit of a milestone as it marks the final issue that Justin Ratcliffe will act as Editor. After four years at the helm, he is moving towards the aft deck taking up the role of Associate Editor in order to free up some time to pursue new challenges in the industry as a journalist and photographer. His final issue as Editor will have all the news and views from the world’s top design studios, as well as concepts, ideas and products from the world of large yacht design you have come to expect from SuperyachtDesign.

Q15 begins with Guests Suites from Andrew Trujillo, who explores the lesser known school of design, Art Nouveau, and Luis de Basto, who looks at the influence of land-based architecture on the design of superyachts. We also explore this connection in Domus Design, where we talk to Rob Wetzels and Gillian Brown of Wetzels Brown about their work on residential projects.

MARPOL, MCA, SOLAS, MLC 2006: there is an abundance of industry rules and regulations that designers have to keep in mind, but to what extent do these regs actually affect the designers, suppliers and builders, and are the regulations always necessary? Our Design Debate asks a panel of industry representatives what they think.

For interior design inspiration, Q15 takes a bit of a material focus. Emanuele Castellini, co-founder of Italian textile manufacturer C&C Milano, talks to us for In Business about the story behind the company’s luxury fabrics, and in Artisan, Fameed Khalique, the man designers like Terence Disdale, Redman Whiteley Dixon and Andrew Winch turn to for material inspiration and solutions for their interiors opens the doors to his London studio, or material larder. Taking a step away from materials, Mood Board looks at the inspiration behind several designers’ latest deck furniture collections.

In Build sees SYD catch up with Veerle Battiau, Philippe Briand’s business partner, to learn more about her work as the lead interior designer on the 71m conversion project, Enigma XK. We also talk to Mr Zaman in Top Yacht about his project with Royal Falcon Fleet, RFF 135, a that yacht promises to change out perception of design. Owners and charterers are getting older and with advanced years often come mobility issues, so in Focal Point we explore the subject of designing an accessible superyacht. Crew uniforms might not seem like something that is linked to superyacht design, but in this issue Lottie Lyne of Crew à la Mode tells us how she believes crew uniform design is a vital element in completing the superyacht concept.

Inside you will also find a comprehensive guide to June’s unmissable event, SuperyachtDESIGN Week. With programme and venue information, as well details about the exciting schedule of sessions, presentations and discussions, this guide is certain to get you excited about this festival of superyacht design. You can register for the event here.

Finally, we close the issue with a selection of concepts from design studios such as Chris Bowen, Feadship, motion code: blue, Oceanco, René van der Velden Yacht Design, Quartostile and Delta Design Group.
