SuperyachtDesign Q10 – which will be available at the SuperyachtDesign Summit next week – is the first issue of 2012, offering even more exciting and opinion-packed features. It delivers the latest news from design studios from around the world including Sea Level Yacht Design, Christopher Seymour Design, Innovation Imperative, Team for Design, Vandermark, Central Yacht and P.B. Behage Yacht Design.
In this issue we introduce two new inspiring feature columns, as we explore both the commercial side of design in greater depth and the crossover of yacht design with land-based architecture. In Business is the first of these new columns where we take a look at the management styles of key figures in the business of yacht design. Our first candidate is Giovanni Costantino, the flamboyant chairman and CEO of Tecnomar.
Domus Design is the second new column, which delves into the world of residential interior design and its relevance to yacht design. Michael Keech and Graham Green of the Keech Green studio in Chelsea Harbour, London, are our focus in Q10, as they share their land-based background and how this transferred to their first interior aboard the award-winning 47-metre Blind Date.
This issue offers an analysis of Bannenberg & Rowell Design’s latest interior projects, M/Y Kaiser and M/Y Aurelia in Top Yacht, as SYD pays a visit to Hot Lab and Van Geest Design for a two-part Case Study on emerging design studios.
Owner’s Brief presents a discussion on design and ownership by Riza Tansu, while in Perspectives, James Claydon and Mike Reeves reveal the secrets to successful design through the use of hydroforms.
Q10 provides the third Artisan column to date, as we explore Bespoke Global, an entirely new outlet for artists and bespoke furniture craftsmen. We speak to tender specialist C-Boat in Focal Point and discover the future of crew space design in Extra Space by Gregory Marshall.
Other articles include a review of the 17th annual Global Superyacht Forum (GSF), an explanation behind Stefano Pastrovich’s 99-metre Xvintage concept, and a Rapid Q&A interview with Roger Liang of Kingship. In Design Debate, we cover the highly topical subject of replicas, as Scott Moyse, Gary Grant and Ludger Dohm offer insightful and inspiring columns in Guest Suite.
