Pendennis has announced the appointment of Richard Hudson as general manager of the company’s Palma refit facility. Hudson worked for Pendennis Palma over the past year, bringing both engineering and technical expertise to the operation.

“For over 16 years I have worked in the marine industry as yacht crew, an owner’s representative and I have delivered projects as a contractor. Therefore I’m able to empathise with our clients and understand their priorities. Perhaps most importantly, I am proud to represent Pendennis’ passion, professionalism and skills in Palma,’ Hudson explained.

Hudson’s experience in yachting includes skippering yachts in the Fastnet Race, RORC, racing solo in Mini 6.5 and Figaro classes, as well as racing aboard Open 60s and Orma 60s. Further to this, he has also served as a ship’s engineering officer in the offshore oil and gas industry aboard support and survey vessels, also working on cable laying vessels and as ROV dive support.

Following consultancy roles with the Department for Transport and the Maritime Coastguard Agency, Hudson spent two years as an engineer on board superyachts; this led to his establishment of a company in 2009 in Mallorca focusing on owner advocacy, engineering and project management. Whilst running this business he assisted with Pendennis’ warranty work on Tenaz, following which he joined the Pendennis Palma team, progressing to a central role managing Fair Lady, Margaret Ann and Audacia during this past refit season.

Hudson will join Pendennis Palma in time for the busy refit season that lies ahead.
