MONACO. On the last day of the Monaco Yacht Show, sales director Russell Crump of Yachting Partners International signed a Letter Of Intent with Sedat Ergun of Dunya Yachts to build a new 105m motoryacht designed by Ken Freivokh. Construction is expected to begin after a design and engineering phase that will last up to one year with expected delivery in 2020. On completion it will easily be the largest yacht ever built in Turkey.
The announcement was made aboard Axioma (formerly Red Square), the 72m yacht launched by Dunya Yachts in 2013, which went on to generate over seven million dillars in charters in her first year alone. The yacht is now for sale as her owner focuses on the new project. During the first 48 hours YPI received two offers.
The bold exterior styling with its structural glass windows of the 105m is a longer version of Freivokh’s 88m Blade concept, created in collaboration with Dunya in 2010. Although yet to be determined, Ergun would like Alberto Pinto Design, the team that created the interior design of Axioma, to work on the interior of the new project.
“I regard Dunya as a high quality assembler,” said Ergun. “My aim is to bring together the best specs, the best engineering package, the best international designers and outfitters, and I can still provide a financial advantage by building in Turkey.”
“The yacht will be built to Passenger Yacht Code certification to carry more than 12 passengers,” said Russell Crump. “On the strength of the success of Axioma, the owner and I sat down to make the Axioma experience bigger, better and greater.”
