The Wave in Muscat, Oman has become the latest waterfront development in the Middle East to form a strategic alliance with Mourjan Marinas IGY.  Muscat has a long maritime history  and The Wave hopes to benefit from Mourjan IGY’s experience in this area to create a facility consistent with this heritage. Michael Horrigan, CEO of Mourjan Marinas commented, “What is so appealing about this initiative is the opportunity it offers Mourjan Marinas IGY to support the overall goal of Oman to create a world-class sailing boat industry.  We are delighted to be entrusted with such a vital project that will allow us to bring our expertise and knowledge of the market to deliver on what will be one of the region’s leading marinas.”

This new alliance builds upon Mourjan IGY’s existing projects in the Middle East, including the Lusail City development in Qatar, Festival Marina in Dubai and the management of two marinas in the Marsa Al Seef project in the Kingdom of Bahrain.  The Wave occupies a 7km water front site and is both a resort and a residential development, which includes a golf course, a five star hotel and a variety of leisure and retail businesses.

The management of The Wave are emphasising the luxury lifestyle that their facility can offer clients in their marketing.  They intend to establish it as ‘the place to be seen’ in the Middle East to allow it to compete within the global luxury yachting industry.  Michael Lenarduzzi, CEO of The Wave commented, “This agreement is a testament to our commitment to not only building the ultimate home and lifestyle destination in the heart of the capital, but to bolster the nation’s thriving tourism industry.”

The first phase of the new marina will open in the second quarter of 2011, and will offer practical services such as fuel and yacht maintenance alongside its luxury leisure facilities.
