Mondo Marine bought by Falciai
The Mondo Group has sold Mondo Marine to Italian media magnate, Alessandro Falciai. The deal is reported to have been signed at the end of May. …
The Italian newspaper Il Mondo has reported that Mondomarine, the Savona-based builder of custom superyachts over 50m, has been acquired by businessman-entrepreneur Alessandro Falciai.
Virtually unknown outside of his native Italy, 52-year-old Falciai developed as a top manager under the tutelage of Silvio Berlusconi and Fininvest-Mediaset. He subsequently founded Digital Multimedia Technologies SpA (DMT), active in the terrestrial digital TV sector and quoted on the Milan Stock Exchange.
At the start of 2012 DMT incorporated El Towers SpA after Elettronica Industriale, a broadcasting network operator within the Mediaset Group, spun off its network infrastructure as well as most of its personnel and all of its operating assets under the name of 'EI Towers S.p.A.' (Elettronica Industriale maintained the ownership of the transmitters and frequencies).
According to Il Mondo, the Mondo Marine contract was signed on May 31. Mondomarine was formerly part of the Mondo group, whose core business under the Stroppiani family is surface materials for athletics and sports arenas.
