Lift Emotion Bv successfully delivered and commissioned the elevators onboard Bacarella, Trinity Yacht’s latest delivery. After surviving the trauma of Hurricane Katrina, which induced a six-month delay on the build, Bacarella was delivered in late 2009. The vessel is of the rare steel displacement designed from Trinity Yachts. According to SuperyachtIntelligence.com, they have only built four steel hulls out of a total of 52 yachts.

Bacarella’s interior was designed by Bannenberg & Rowell Design and outfitted by Metrica, who produced part of a mock-up guest cabin for the clients to view. The idea and final product conformed to the brief Dickie Bannenberg calls “smart, tailored but ultimately relaxed.”

The design requested that the cabin and doors of the lift should be incorporated into the whole interior of the yacht, so Lift Emotion's design allowed for 150kg of extra interior weight. The cabin and landing door leaves received a special steel cladding 0.8 mm thick. The beautiful wooden floor in the elevator was made possible because of the 25mm finished recess incorporated in the design.

The elevator starts on the interior deck with a special watertight landing door on port side. This landing door needed to be watertight, so Lift Emotion made the door suitable for elevator use by means of special contacts and locking devices. The port side lower deck level has a telescopic sliding door with the special steel cladding. The main deck and 01 deck have the entrance on the starboard side.

Bacarella also has a small goods elevator on board. This enables the crew to move goods between the three decks easily. The weather tight sundeck door allows the crew to also serve on the sundeck. Each entrance inside the ship has A60 fire rated doors.

All the principal items of furniture onboard have been custom designed by Bannenberg & Rowell, including a driftwood and bronze table and a coffee table in glass and white oak. A noted calligrapher and stone carver was commissioned to carve a large slate map inscribed with quotes on the sea from a highly eclectic selection of people, including Yoko Ono, HP Lovecraft, Lord Chesterfield and JFK. The map is placed in a prominent position on the bridge deck as you come out from the elevator.

The yacht is now complete and the result matches Bannenberg & Rowell's aim: "a knocked-back, colour-free zone, with lots of textures, bronzes, mosaic, timber, nickel, neutral fabrics."
