Hakvoort Shipyard has opened its new slipway, which allows the yard to build superyachts of up to 58m x 10.6m.

The slipway offers a maximum lift of 1000 tonnes, and is part of the yard’s strategy to grow in order to accommodate and build larger yachts. In 2009 the yard raised the roof of its main construction shed by 2m in order to build four-deck vessels.

“We are now in a position to bid for new 50-metre-plus projects for delivery in early 2014,” said Klaas Hakvoort. “Our yard is highly competitive in the size bracket due to our lean overheads and very high quality levels.”

The new slipway allows Hakvoort to build yachts of up to 58m.
