Cannes first stop for Holland Yacht Experience

Dutch yacht businesses join forces to present a new facility in Cannes. The Holland Yacht Experience will offer clients a comprehensive range of services that showcase Dutch craftsmanship...…

Cannes has been elected 'home' by a pioneering business that showcases the best of Dutch yacht building and marine services under one roof.

The Holland Yacht Experience, which opens in the middle of the Cannes International Boat Show on 8 September, is an office complex on the main boulevard of Cannes, La Croisette, in the redeveloped harbour of Port Canto.

The ethos behind the new facility is to promote the unique benefits of Dutch yacht building and Dutch services to a market that is ripe to embrace an industry steeped in values and tradition.  Anco Kok, marketing manager at Mulder Shipyard, a partner company of the business, said:

“Dutch craftsmanship produces high quality products that keep their value over the years. The trend towards more classic durable yachts and economical yachts that always maintain their value, are the strongest trends that are being recognised in today’s market place. All Holland Yacht Experience partners are in an excellent position to gain major market share.”

Between the five companies currently participating, clients can almost have their every wish fulfilled.  Mulder shipyard, Balk, Van der Vliet Quality Yachts, Wayer Wayer and Arie de Boom Marine will offer clients the ability to have their boat refitted, order maintenance activities, put their yacht on the market or request a berth.  This is part of the business’ objective to offer clients every possible service under one roof.   Alex de Boom, Chairman of Arie de Boom Marine, stressed however, that there are no contractual obligations in place to oblige inter -referrals:

“The objective is to keep business ‘in house’ as much as possible.  This is the reason we refer to the concept as a ‘One stop shop’. But there is no formal agreement between the participants to refer each other’s businesses. Honesty and transparency are key words here, and these also reflect on the Dutch way of doing business.”

To complete the picture, De Boom is looking for a further two companies to join:

“We are looking for two or three additional partners that share the same values as the founding Holland Yacht Experience partners, mainly in the area of sailing yachts.”

The new office opens its doors just days before the industry flocks to the Monaco Yacht Show.   De Boom, whose offices have already been established in Cannes for a decade, believes the city has advantages over its more fashionable counterpart.  He said:

“The location Port Canto was selected because of the clear intention by the City of Cannes to restore this port to new prestigious levels.  All partners are able to use high quality office facilities on an excellent location on the French Riviera at moderate costs. Partners will also benefit from the infrastructure of Port de La Rague, offering berths and other shipyard facilities.”

Meanwhile, plans to expand Holland Yacht Experience have not been ruled out by the company.  Palma and Fort Lauderdale are just two sites mentioned for possible future offices.
