Baltic Yachts’ 60m much heralded Panamax project has been revealed as the new Hetairos. Labelled as the Panamax project, because the mast height will just allow Hetairos to pass under the Bridge of the America’s and transit the Panama Canal where there is a maximum air draft of 62.5m, the 60m (197ft) ketch is the largest carbon composite yacht ever built.

Hetairos has set many new benchmarks in superyacht construction with cutting edge technology and a strict weight-saving philosophy.
Emphasis is on performance with an owner who likes to race. So there is no bulky heavy weight hydraulic in-boom furling system, just lazy jacks and a boom shelf to support the mainsail and mizzen when lowered.

Very traditional features like the wood counter stern, the bowsprit and traditional wooden wheel house’s belie what is below with a 239 tonne carbon hull that is less than half the weight of an equivalent aluminium hull.

The sails by North are the latest top-end 3Di construction.

She was built at Baltic Yachts in Finland and designed by Dykstra & Partners Naval Architects, Reichel Pugh Yacht Design (Co-Naval architect) with interior design by Rhoades Young. Gurit Ltd (composite engineering) and Jens Cornelsen GmbH (Project Management).

Pushing the envelope of yacht design and construction, Hetairos will take part in both inshore and offshore regattas whilst also providing safe and comfortable cruising. No stone has been left unturned in the pursuit of high performance.
