Global satellite giant, Astrium Services is now to operate under the banner Airbus Defence and Space, in line with the branding of its parent company, Airbus Group, which has itself undergone a rebranding and reorganisation process.

All Astrium operations will continue under the auspices of Communication, Intelligence & Security (CIS) line, and its head, Erik Ceuppens said this revision would benefit all satcom activities: “The new Airbus Defence and Space set-up will allow bringing all governmental and commercial satellite communication activities together into one integrated satcom unit, as part of CIS. The mission of new satcom unit will be to be the provider of choice for trusted satcom-enabled solutions, with a very strong customer focus across all our key vertical markets,” he explained. “We’re proud to operate under the Airbus name and its association with technology excellence.”

In 2013 Astrium announced a partnership with e3 Systems whereby e3 would promote Astrium’s Pharostar Ku-band VSAT services to its network within the superyacht industry. At the time e3’s MD, Roger Horner said of his new partner, “Astrium Services is the world’s largest maritime satellite provider and together we can offer an unbeatable portfolio of attractive services ranging from short term and flexible to very high, dedicated bandwidth.”
