Auckland-based superyacht agent, Asia Pacific Superyachts New Zealand has appointed Duthie Lidgard as its new MD. Lidgard has worked in the industry for over a decade and is a 3000gt-certified captain. He has also represented owners on new build projects in Europe and Australia.

Jeanette Tobin, who owns Asia Pacific Superyachts New Zealand, explained that Lidgard’s appointment was part of a response to rapidly burgeoning demand. “With the growth of the business and the market in New Zealand, and to enable us to give the service that we want to continue to give, our new team member needs the ability to deliver seamless support to crew to provide the best possible owner trips”, she said. “It’s what Janice and I have worked so hard to provide, and it’s been key to building the business.”

“I’m excited to be buying into a company with a high reputation and successful track record within the marine industry”, Lidgard said of his appointment. “Working with Jeanette and Janice will allow the continued development of fresh ideas and new ventures which will benefit all our clients, not just in New Zealand but around the world.”

Lidgard is also relishing the opportunity to assume a role that will allow him to promote New Zealand as a destination for the superyacht fraternity. “Over the years, I have been promoting everything New Zealand to my clients and friends, I remain dedicated to promoting New Zealand as a superyacht destination with the immediate aim of growing the cruising and charter market all whilst offering superior personal service to vessels and their crew during the stay covering all works and refits”, he added.

Lidgard will assume his position from 1 August.
