Heesen unveils Project Nina
Heesen used FLIBS 2015 as the platform to unveil Project Nina, its 38m collaboration with Hot Lab design.
Presented to the industry by Heesen's US representative, Thom Conboy, Nina represents a 'regional' package, comprised of specs that make it particularly appropriate for operation in the waters of South Florida and the Caribbean.
Equipped with a five-cabin layout, she will have a minimal 1.8m draught, achieve a top speed of 22 knots, and despite being just 299gt, will be built to LY3 requirements. In conjunction with the cruising culture of the region, she will feature a flybridge, with space on the upper deck for an 18' tender. There is also a 42m tri-level version.
Model of Nina
Upon unveiling the design, Conboy emphasised just how important the American market is to the superyacht industry, underlining precisely why the yard has created Nina. In Conboy's words, for this type of yacht, "we have no competitors in Northern Europe".
Conboy went on to explain that Heesen is, "undertaking a very aggressive spec-boatbuilding programme. People don't want to wait two or three years for a boat anymore and as the dollar and euro get closer, it can only be good for the American market."
