Former ANT employees establish Flare Technologies
By Rebecca Dark
Former employees of Advanced New Technologies (ANT) have set up a new company Flare Technologies.
Martin Dickson and Adam Kirkwood set up the company in June of this year and have offices operating in Palma and the Antibes, offering support services to superyachts.
Flare Tech are a service and support company for all electronic systems, including those note installed by Flare. Flare will keep systems running efficiently with the implementation, integration and support services for all connected systems end to end. This includes AV, control systems, IT, communications, security, navigation and bridge systems.
Speaking to SuperyachtNews.com Dickson gave us insight into the reason behind the start up: “Adam Kirkwood and I had worked successfully together in the service division of ANT. When the company was taken over by a large corporate the restrictions of working within that sized organisation reduced our flexibility and thus threatened our response times. In this sector of the superyacht industry the clients expect fast and efficient service and they build up a relationship and trust with the “front of house” engineers and management. We could see that if we were to maintain and indeed improve the service to the client we must have the flexibility to make instant decisions, both technically and commercially.”
Their positions in Palma and Antibes allows for Flare to give rapid response to clients in the Balearics, mainland Spain and the western Med and the South of France, including Monaco, Cannes, nice and Italy. “We have been busy establishing these major hubs and employing local staff. This, I believe, gives us a huge advantage over the competition and ensures our clients don’t get hit with unpalatable travel costs. All our technicians have great pedigree and have worked in the design and integration of some of the most notable yachts,” said Dickson.
Asked what the long-term plan for Flare, Dickson said: “We have strength in building up a working partnership with all our clients. This relationship is built on trust and loyalty. Our success is measured by our performance and we are aware that we are only as good as our last performance.
“Our aim is to create a company that is an elite service specialist, we do not get involved in New Build and by focusing on a select few, our portfolio of clients is never going to be huge otherwise they will never receive the level of service we are proud of. Our existing clients are well known and established; we aim to continue giving an experience of service that has ‘noticeable added value’, this strategy is proven by client retention and loyalty.
The company is commercially savvy but the returns are created and measured by client satisfaction not by volume of equipment sold into the market.”
