Cala Ponte Marina Italy to launch in under a year

Camper & Nicholsons Marinas (CNM) have announced a new Italian marina will join its network in summer 2013.
With capacity for superyachts at the small end of the spectrum, Cala Ponte Marina, southern Italy will have 320 berths for yachts up to 25m.
Cala Ponte is located near Bari in the Apulia region, which borders the Adriatic to the east and the Ionian to the south east. The waters are highly popular for cruising and coastline has seen development speed up to meet the new demand, including in Croatia, where at D-Marin Mandalina marina new superyacht berths have been added.
“Cala Ponte Marina will be a world class destination and a credit to this beautiful part of Italy’s varied coast,” said James Beaver, C&N’s Chief Operating Officer.
CNM collaborated on the marina’s design with developer, Fimco SpA, responsible for several large-scale residential, commercial, tourism and facility management projects in the region.
“We are privileged to work with Sr Fusillo and his team on bringing this project to the operational stage, and we are delighted to welcome Cala Ponte to the Camper & Nicholsons network of premium marina destinations,” Beaver added.

Cala Ponte marina lies below the cliff-top town of Polignano a Mare, an ancient city of narrow alleys and traditional architecture. Apulia’s 500 miles of coastline is one of Italy’s most popular cruising areas with the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia and Greece’s northern Ionian islands also within easy reach of a day’s sail.

In addition to the marina, 40km away from Bari International Airport, there there will be a hotel and commercial property for bars, restaurants and leisure businesses.
“Having worked successfully with Camper & Nicholsons on the design and development of the marina, it was clear that their experience and expertise made them the ideal partner to support us when the project reaches completion in 2013,” said Vito Fusillo, Chairman of Cala Ponte SpA.
