Brokerage firm banks on superyacht sales

UK-based Burton Waters has signed a partnership with Princess Motoryacht Sales. The move sees the family owned brokerage and sales company makes its first foray into the superyacht market, ending its eleven year agreement with Sealine to sell its small yacht range.
The company will sell the entire Princess range, including the Flybridge, V Class and new M Class superyachts, which includes the newly delivered 40m Imperial Princess who set off on her maiden voyage to Jersey in July.
“We’re so excited about [the partnership]. We’ve been in the industry 25 years and this is a big step,” said Adam Cox, Sales Director at Burton Waters. “We’ve got customers growing and we feel the time is right. We’re seeing people wanting to move to bigger yachts which is why we've made the approach to Princess.”

Equally, whilst Princess works with many brokerage and sales companies, the new agreement with Burton Waters hints at the strength of the UK’s east coast market for new superyacht owners. Burton Waters has offices and a marina in Ipswich on the UK’s east coast, so Princess has clearly recognised this long standing mecca for yachting has potential for the superyacht market's growth.
“This partnership with Burton Waters Boat Sales strengthens our distribution on the East coast of the UK and will undoubtedly improve our market share in this key territory for Princess,” confirmed Roger Lipman, Sales Director of Princess Motor Yacht Sales.
Princess has recently consolidated itself as a superyacht builder, acquiring its South Yard site, part of the historic Naval Shipyard in Devonport in late 2011 to provide space for construction of its new 40m motoryacht range. The site has begun development and once complete, it will represent some of the ‘most advanced superyacht facilities in the world’, read a statement from Princess.
