'Eos' catches fire in Norway

A fire broke out on 92m sailing yacht Eos on Saturday in Norway’s Port of Oslo.
Port authorities were alerted to the fire onboard Eos at 3.15pm on Saturday, said communications manager Trude Thingelstad. The port’s patrol boats assisted fire crews called in to combat the fire.
“It took some hours to stop it,” said Thingelstad. “The roof had the most damage; the roof plates were burnt. But the fire crew managed to control it so it didn’t progress down.”
No one was hurt amongst the 18 people who had to be evacuated. The cause of the fire is being investigated whilst Eos remains at the Port's Filipstad pier.
Lurssen-built Eos is the world’s second largest sailing yacht, superseded in size only by 109m Sea Cloud.
Her owner is Barry Diller, a media mogul and legend of the film industry responsible for the creation of Fox Broadcasting as well as holding the position of CEO of Paramount for ten years. Diller had been expected to join the yacht in Norway on the weekend, according to Norway’s ViewsandNews.com.
