Pendennis reveals expansion plans

Pendennis has confirmed plans to expand its Falmouth facility. The expansion – which will see two new sheds built and a 9m increase in height of its dry dock shed – will enable the yard to accommodate further large scale projects anticipated under its Pendennis Plus line.
Included in the plans are a new hospitality suite, new crew quarters, six workshops and a new office space. The plans are now pending approval from Falmouth Town Council.
Toby Allies, sales and marketing director at Pendennis commented:
“The plans will increase our capabilities in the larger yacht build and refit market, in particular with the increased height of the dry dock. We continue to get a good number of enquiries for our Pendennis Plus side of the business so it is important for Pendennis to continually enhance our facilities.”
Pendennis Plus formed in 2010 to focus on 60m+ ranges of new builds and refits and has reported significant success rates with remarkable projects in both sectors. This month saw the launch of 96 metre VaVa II, the largest private motoryacht ever constructed in Britain, and in February large yacht refits such as 71m Dona Amélia and 53m Perini Navi sailing yacht Jasali II were completed. A source added there would be a further major refit under the Pendennis Plus line announced over the next few weeks.

The expansion in Falmouth follows the recent growth of the business into Europe, with the opening of the Pendennis Palma refit office in July 2011.
Allies said the office and the new extension would work together to stimulate growth in the large yacht sector:
“By continuing to build upon our already world class facilities in Falmouth and expanding into Europe we can offer an enhanced service that serves to assist what is a high level of client retention by providing ongoing international support. By maintaining our relationship with our clients and the yacht captains through this facility we can be more assured of yachts returning to Falmouth for future works.”
