Almouj marina in Muscat, Oman, which is managed by Mourjan Marinas IGY, has announced an update on its plans for construction. The main pontoon contract has been awarded to Technomarine, meaning integral work can now commence on phase one of the marina, which will see 113 marina berths, including at least fifteen berths for superyachts up to 65m, constructed by the end of the year. Mourjan Marinas IGY eventually aims to expand the marina to 400 berths, which will be assessed after phase one is completed.
Almouj marina is located within luxury waterside development, The Wave. The development offers 4,000 properties, four premier hotels and a golf course in addition to the planned marina. Mourjan Marinas IGY and The Wave formed a strategic alliance earlier in the year to develop Almouj marina.

Almouj marina as imagined once constructed
Speaking to SuperyachtNews.com Mathew Bate Director of Operations at Mourjan Marinas IGY, stressed the measured approach he is bringing to the management of Almouj. He said: "Rather than build 400 berths straight away we are building according to the demand. That’s why we’re phasing it." He added that he anticipates berth take up for the first 100 berths will be rapid: “It’s very much full steam ahead and we are encouraging interested boaters to start enquiring with us about berthing now rather than later as we are expecting a lot of interest.”
Technomarine will be responsible for delivering The Wave and Mourjan Marinas IGY’s design and vision for the marina. In addition to the 113 berths, a 40m fuel dock with high-flow diesel pumps, pumpout and yacht provisions, as well as VIP berthing for megayachts will be installed. The marina is intended to be attractive as well as functional with harbour-side views, a myriad of dining options and a retail promenade.
Michael Lenarduzzi, CEO The Wave, Muscat commented: "This world-class marina promises to be a unique and vibrant centre providing a first-of-its-kind integrated marina lifestyle in Oman. The awarding of the pontoon contract to Technomarine will further boost our efforts to make Almouj Marina one of the region’s leading marinas."
